Oldhamii Giant Timber Clumping Bamboo Bambusa

Bambusa Oldhamii is one of my personal favorites. It is just so majestic! The canes will grow to 4 inches in diameter and it can grow up to 55 feet in height! The sheaths of new canes can show some pink or mauve colors as shown in the first picture but the colors do rather fade to tan as they age. Oldhamii will be hardy to 20 degrees and can go colder, but will have some top growth die back when lower than 20 degrees. This bamboo is straight and erect, so the canes can be used for many purposes including furniture and garden structure construction. It can be used in the landscape as a specimen plant or as a hedge row. If you are considering a hedge, spacing should be approximately 7 feet apart. My plants are currently growing in 1 gallon pots and are at least 36 inches in height (and maybe as tall as 5 feet) as show in the 4th picture. If your plant is taller than our 36 or 48 inch boxes, we will bend the tops over to retain the top of the cane. It will have a number of canes as you can see in the photos. It may be shipped without it’s pot an it will be packed and wrapped to retain moisture during it’s time in transit. Your plants are guaranteed to arrive safely and alive.
